Hydraulic Safety Evaluation and Dynamic Investigations of Baghetto Bridge in Italy

The present study deals with the structural safety evaluation of a 50-year-old river bridge, called Baghetto Bridge, located in north Italy on Adda River. Generally speaking, hydraulic processes are main cause bridge failure. Scour and hydrodynamic loads have been largely studied by engineering community; however, practice, integration analysis is often missing. aim this research to provide multidisciplinary procedure based dynamic investigations devoted verification monitoring bridges traditional mechanical bearings. deck–river interaction addressed, studying influence debris accumulation performing bearing supports. actions exerted deck current were estimated following recommendations Italian code making some further assumptions. In addition, FE modelling performed. results show (1) relatively fast that can be applied practitioners perform bearings, (2) an investigation method evaluate temperature–frequency correlation as reference for future inspections.
